Party Place

This is certainly a week of using this old house...

Wednesday  = I hosted a little party for my cousin Shawn who is trying to re-start her At Home America home-based party thingy...She does not have enough to do with her days...so now she wants to fill her nights too...I don't have her energy....she has dial-up Internet...so she is not as easily distracted as I am...

PRIOR to this event....THis 50 year old had some MAJOR house cleaning to do....can you say DUST-BUNNIES without thinking I am terrible....this house is nearly 100 yrs. old,..the joints creak, the floors dip here and there, the windows look CLOUDY ( never-mind that I have only washed them twice the entire time that I have lived here) ( in my DEFENSE they are practically impossible to  get open, in,,,, out, much less clean.!!), so dust flies in here at free will, and lands on every surface that I abuse with my collections.( THAT I STILL LOVE), plus we are major slobs-- Jene and I...we used to blame the children all 5 of them in birth order, slowly as they left home, the laundry just got lighter and the messes remained...durnd kids~!~!..

Of course Shawn remembered that I said I would LOVE to host a party for her...called and said let's have a date....YIKES....messy summer house...LOVE TO....secretly scoping out the dirt....HOLY CRAP!!  So promptly set down at the laptop to check out facebook....

For 2 days....

then I thought about cleaning for nearly a week,,, then I started tweaking the dust and
thinking I should clean a closet or 3 in preparation for the city wide garage sale (In October) see I like to start things EARLY!!!  You know how people look in your closet when they come for a party!! Snoops~~  The night before I worked myself into a frenzy and by golly this old house came out looking like a Queenie....

Party on, guests came, we ate, we laughed, we drank, we spent money, Shawn and I (Mostly Shawn) gossiped about  our ENTIRE family....I got some free stuff, Shawn made a few extra bucks, Jene got a ride on HD, Cooper got ALOT of attention....What more could a girl ask for....

Thursday....Preparation for party No 2 and Party No 3 this week....
For  none-other than Sweet Little coming into HIS own Personality Great Big One Year old

WESTYNN COLE...

His Beach Bum Water Park Invite All your friends and family from 3 states ( they all said YES we will come) party is Saturday...

His Bless His Little Heart to Heaven Baptism Celebration after Church Dinner will be Sunday - with Most of the people that came for the water splash party and a preacher and his bride ..

Excited...Why yes we are....

When we remodeled I said to handsome Jene...I just want people to feel welcome and at home in our home...I want to share the room that we are blessed with...I want to hear laughter, I want to have alot of  good food, I want to make memories here for me and my family ( and yours if they want to participate)..

He never rolled his eyes (in front of me anyway)

So he set about to  let me decorate this house to suit me, he has been mowing for weeks and watering to beat the heat and grasshoppers and fussing over the meat for the grill....and telling me to get off of facebook and do my part around here ( HE IS SO BOSSY) I say FEAR NOT MR. Allen....multi-talented daughter is in CHARGE of decorations and party planning...I just have to make potato salad...( while I am checking a few of my favorite BLOGS)

So preparations are nearly done....Anticipation is high....food is getting ready....no photos....decorations are top secret....

We leave for Zenda to Celebrate Brother Jerry turning 80...I hope the SURPRISE is gentle on his heart....

4 parties  -  1  week  --  = The Party Place..

I could not have any more wishes for this house to come true...( unless is STAYED this clean...always)
Oh..well...we have to live here....

Happiest Birthday EVER!!! to date!!

How may I help you??

Saturday August 21, 2010..I turned 5o years old..quietly, laughing, taking photos, eating to much of a good thing from Jene's grill, swimming, cupcakes, home-made ice cream with all the toppings we could eat, spending time with my handsome hubby, onry-precious grandkids, and my 2 very talented and computer smart children, we dug through an old barn for some barn wood for Russ, I received a WONDERFUL old dining room table and 3 historic chairs just for being present, was on the receiving end of a MUCH NEEDED computer operator update and technical class, held on the couch with 2 laptops (PRICELESS)  I would be hard-pressed to say WHAT was my favorite part of the day...
Family is the BEST

It did not go un-noticed by me that they all gave up precious time from their busy lives and schedules and families to spend the weekend with me....I cherish this kind of devotion as a mom...It gets harder and harder to have quality family time as everyone grows up...(PRICELESS)

I am thankful to be healthy and of sound mind enough to just sit back and watch as they grow and evolve in to the people that I am so proud of and love with my entire being....(PRICELESS)

I thought about turning 50 a BUNCH....It just slipped right up on me...I NEVER really thing about my age...unless someone asks me how OLD my children are...29  and  27  how did that happen?  yesterday they were babies...I don't know HOW I am supposed to feel at 50  so I am picking  GREAT!!!

I think about MY mom every birthday I have...She had me at the very tender age of 17 and she had been married for over a yr, she was pregnant with me on her Sr. Trip, she had to be INCREDABLY HOT all summer long, I am sure she was unaware about EVERYTHING that was happening in her little body, and then along came  ME....she was poor as a church mouse, my daddy was in the Navy so she lived with my paternal Grandpa, how she must have hated that, I in turn was the apple of his eye,  I KNEW I was his favorite grandchild of all he had...we had a special bond....My mom, bless her heart and soul took a bunch of photos of me, she smoked like a stack, she was young, innocent, yet wordly at the same time...REMARKABLE is the job she did...She bloomed where she was planted...I thank God so much for her and her influence on who I am at 50!!

Debbie, Maxine, Me, Linda, Gayla.... MUMS!!!!
I consider myself not too social and kind of a homebody...I always say my job at the bank is my social life and I don't really have too many friends....well...that simply is NOT true...my Facebook account allowed me to receive 59 birthday wishes...I would say I have the best Friends....I work with a super bunch of ladies that let me not do quite all of the daily duties last Friday because of ALL the people that stopped by to wish me a happy BIRTHDAY...plus some of them wore headbands made by Debra....not everyone can wear FALL FOLIAGE in their hair...

To say I am blessed is to put it midly....I am the LUCKIEST GIRL in the WHOLE U S A....

A perfect way to CELEBRATE my day...

I have learned how to add photos...yippee!!!

Pondering the Big 5-0

This is a week of thinking about turning ONE HALF OF A CENTURY old....yikes...how did I get to be 50 years old, this can't be true...Oh wait..I do have those gray hairs, and those awful blood veins on every inch of my legs and feet, wrinkles, yep those too, those nasty brown spots on the hands, got em!!, stiffness where there used to be somewhat limberness,YES!! sleepness nights, (YAWN) I own them, bifocals( 4 pair, right on top of the bifocal contacts), memory malfunctions, (I think I have this?), facial hair (UGH!!!HATE IT!), cellulite, OF COURSE I HAVE THIS, people I am turning 50 what do you expect...This all sounds terribly DREADFUL... and DEPRESSING....and UGLY.....But Guess WHAT?I AM NOT AFRAID OF THIS NUMBER 5-0 I'm thinking I will tell you why....When I'm good and ready....right now I must go find some purple to wear and plan which street I am going to spit in and declare we have no money for butter.....from one of my favorite books....When I am an OLD Woman I shall wear PURPLE...More to come.50 maybe...Robin

Good Ole Summer Time

Summer is here.. Officially on the 21st...in my heart it was the day after school was out, anyway that is how is was when I was a kid..and summer ended the day school began again in August. Summer is 'different' for me now... I work year-round and the banking industry does not revolve around any particular schedule....we just work in climate controled environments on a daily basis.. for that I am GRATEFUL!!!!This evening I am thinking about just how quickly summer is zooming by me...my thoughts are all to myself as I am home alone....My hubby has gone 'plum-CRAZY'...Summer is fun - 101$1.00 flip flops - what is NOT to love about them ( 10 or more pairs) seriouslyPink Lemonade - with a swirly straw Cambree shared with me - just because she wanted me to have one.Red Glider - Old fashioned, slow, dependable, perfect view of 3 of my birdfeeders, sqeaky just a little....Birdfeeders - many guests flit in and out... I LOVE them all....the bluejays are downright mean!! I even have 2 humming birds....Elevators - trucks full of golden grains of wheat, noisy, BUSY, steadfast, a true icon of Coldwater....I do not remember NOT have a elevator....I am glad I do not live NORth of the elevator. for the sheer noise factor...the lights on at night are kinda cool....at the very top.Flowers - water, which I secretly love to play in is required often, I am by no means a master gardener but I do love a pretty blossomFear factor - Putting on a bathing suit....Geez WHERE did these bloodveins come from....Oh yeah..I'm pushing 50 PRETTY hard and have been on my feet for 30+ years working....YIKES!!Fun factor - Getting over the fear of the suit, when your grandkids call and say meet us at the pool in 10 mins...More Fun- 'letting' your 6 yr old grandson WIN the splash contest, 'letting' your 4 yr old granddaughter ( who has ABSOLUTLEY not IDEA that she is only 4 and VERY VERY small) Win the race to the rope...Even more fun - CAN YOU say DIVING board!!! ( ugh-- them not me) Priceless!!Jene does ALOT of the cooking -- on the trager- this enables the above fear factor about the suit...our DECK -- we should have built this 10 years sooner....we missed ALOT of just sittin on the deck time....we visit more, and listen to nature more (when the elevator is 'off') it is very private and we can just hang out in our 'fat' clothes and NO ONE can see us....PRICELESS!!Traffice -- we really only have much traffic for about 3 months....but we do get to see alot of folks just driving around the lake...waves...yes, this is a small town....T-BALL -- fun for Preston, Westynn like it for approximatley 1 hour, Cambree can hardly wait to play, she got an extra shirt this year,..yippee..I wish I could record EVERYTHING those 5-6-7-yr old say...sitting close the the dug-out is PRICELESS>>>SPRINKLERS -- please tell me ... we are NOT the only people that sit and watch them.....I would run through it....but that would require me leaving this RED GLIDER....or perhaps falling down the steps of the deck....so watching is a good thing..S'MORES -- brings out the girlscout in me....Man I love those things....another reason for the FEAR FACTOR -- HA!Picnics -- Grandkids and food out of a cooler....bologna never tasted so good....I really don't like that nasty stuff....it just wrote good....Harley Davidson -- JENE loves his other 'girl' and rides her every chance he gets.....I cherish the quiet time while he is away...I hate riding when it's HOT!!!! Fireworks - Personally I think they are a HUGE waste of money....but Preston and Cambree LOVE LOVE LOVE them....I like the ones at the lake....maybe Westynn will be asleep and need a sitter....WATER AEROBICS.. i swim 3 nights a week with ladies I do not routine socialize with...I get a tan, I don't sweat and by the END of summer I am somewhat in shape..anyway it is a different one than I started with...Summer time....I do love the changing of the seasons here in my little spot of heaven on earth....AIR CONDITIONING love that the most when it's super hotSquirrels, bikes, PLUMS, a few of my other favorites....Happy Summer

Butterfly Kisses

Yesterday, February 27, we celebrated Miss Cambree Jane's 4th birthday with an over-the-top party with Butterflies as the theme.. This little girl love Butterflies. She has them on her wall in her bedroom and on a quilt that was made first by my Grandma Nina, then made into squares by me, and finally quilted and bound by her paternal Grandma Betty..a true legacy of a quilt...She even wore jeans with bling and butterflies with a t-shirt covered with the winged beauties...She had an adorable Butterfly cake, pink and purple 'just like i told mom i wanted', pink lemonade, pink punch, (we slurped it up with straws that had butterflies on them) cupcakes, deviled eggs, little smokies cooked in bacon, cheese and crackers ( Nabisco cooperated and made crackers for spring with butterflies on them), cucumber sandwhiches (that looked like little flowers), tortilla roll-ups and ice cream.....when it's your birthday you can help with the menu planning.. no questions asked !!Friends from Oklahoma and Ashland and Coldwater and of course all of her grandparents were in attendance.. Lot's of laughter, eating, babies crying, moms helping moms, trading tips and stories and a TON of photos...Cambree's mom does so much for each birthday at their house so that each one is truly memorable. Memories are made that will last for a lifetime. This is a treasure!!Cambree Jane, she has my mom's middle name, is the only girl, a daddy's girl, a prissy tomboy, pink boots, Preston's old boots, clicky sunday school shoes, filthy flip flops or the cutest little barefeet, strong willed, athletic, competitive, killer eyes, impossible to manage hair... our little bundle of joy!!!So We Celebrate her special day by surrounding her with love...and Butterflies.Happy Birthday Cambree
